First portrait - at Northside hospital.
She came so quick and 3 weeks early that
we didn't have time to get a pretty dress for her.
Sudha Parimala Gururaj - why we named her so
I wanted a traditional name and Guru wanted a traditional yet modern sounding name. We'd almost settled on 'Ananya' when we discovered, on our return to Atlanta, that every other Indian baby girl was being named Ananya. Guru liked 'Anushka' while I was still for older names like 'Arundathi'. 'Esha' found favour with both of us and 'Sudha' was thrown in as an option. So it was mainly Esha Vs Anushka. When bubs was finally born(in a hurry), we held her and said 'so its Sudha'? I chose to addon 'Parimala' as her middle name since we chose 'Gururaj' as her last name. Sudha(nectar in Sanskrit) the book written by Sri Madhvacharya(our patron saint), Parimala (fragrance in Sanskrit) the meaning for the Sudha book written by Sri Raghavendra Swamy(another patron saint) often reffered as 'Gururaj' (Guru's complete name). So there she was - Sudha Parimala Gururaj.
I'm still calling her bubsie(I called her that before she was born) and sometimes kutty(meaning little darling). She's Sudha to family and Pari(shortened version of Parimala, also meaning Angel) to friends.
